Where MacroFactor is stronger

  • Food logging with a barcode scanner, a verified food database, custom recipes and micronutrients.
  • A coaching algorithm estimates your energy expenditure and adjusts your calorie and macro targets every week.
  • Also runs on Apple Watch, iPad and Mac and includes habit and period trackers.

What Trendcurve does differently

  • Focuses on the weight trend: weighing yourself is enough, you do not log food.
  • Free to use: trend weight, history, goal with target pace, creating experiments and medication tracking need no subscription.
  • No account and no own server: your weigh-ins stay on your device.
  • Four trend methods to choose from and a forecast with a goal date (Pro).
  • A calorie budget derived from your measured trend is available with Pro, without food logging.
  • Available in ten languages, including German, French and Spanish.

Which app is right for you?

MacroFactor is the better fit if you want to log your food in detail and have a coaching algorithm adjust your calorie and macro targets every week. Trendcurve is not built for that: Trendcurve has no food logging.

Trendcurve is the better fit if you only want to track your weight and its trend, do not want a subscription, or want to keep your weigh-ins on your device without an account.

How to move your data from MacroFactor

  1. In MacroFactor, open "More", then "Data Management" and "Data Export". The Quick Export includes scale weight and trend weight, among other things.
  2. Open the spreadsheet in a spreadsheet app and save the columns with date and scale weight as a CSV file.
  3. Install Trendcurve, open "Settings & more", then "Export, backup & import", and import the file with "Import file". Trendcurve only needs a date column and a weight column.
  4. Without a file it works through Apple Health or Health Connect: MacroFactor can write your weight there, and Trendcurve reads it from there.

Try it first: load your CSV file into the free trend weight calculator. It analyses the file right in your browser, nothing is uploaded.
